Anyways, 5miles at the gym in about 57minutes, for a 11:22 pace. I think I increased my mileage every 1/2mile or mile or so for a negative split. I also did it on a 1% incline, Tiffany! I'm notorious for complaining about inclines when Tiffany so nicely encourages me to. Then I found through, Erin, that there's this "conversion chart". So maybe I am actually going faster than I think! Yay. Thanks Erin! That's why my "10min/mile" pace feels so hard, cause with the incline it feels like a 9:52 or something? I'm still going by the miles on the tm though to figure out my distance. When Tiffany's not around that is. When she has her nike+ with her I go by what she says (usually it says we've gone farther than the tm says we have...i'm fine with that for now).
Today I branched out and tried the aqua class at my gym. It promised to be:
Aqua – The water provides an atmosphere of safe resistance for aerobic conditioning. This class is perfect for the fit, pregnant, and/or joint-sensitive individual. You need not be a swimmer to participate.
Fit individual, that's me, right? On the drive to the gym I was debating. I was dressed with my swimsuit on under my clothes and was still deciding if I wanted to really do it. I'm such a chicken when it comes to trying new things by myself. But I thought if I don't do it now, when am I really going to? So I just went. And it was what I thought it was, water aerobics. No hard core drill sargent, just a peppy fun gal talking over a bit of music telling you to pump your arms and kick your feet. They did these weights, which were surprisingly heavy once you got them in the water. And, they had us take these rubber bands and pull on your partner while they tried to run across the pool, biggest loser style. That was tricky in bare feet, but fun. I had a good time, and I think I'll pass my final verdict in the next day or so when I see how sore I am. In the few lanes they did have open I saw this gal start her swim who ran an informal "master class" last spring that I went to and really enjoyed. Little envious I didn't just swim. Oh well, still glad I tried it. And who knows, maybe I got a killer arm workout in?
I didn't feel like the aqua class really was going to replace my cardio for the day so I changed and went upstairs for a run on the tm. I did 45minutes with a few pauses cause I'm was feeling fatigued. I think I needed to eat more than one Luna mini bar this morning, maybe two would have been better?
I got almost 4miles in today, 11:18min/mile AP. I'm pretty proud of that. Back on the band wagon!
